City to conduct native grass burnings
The city’s Parks and Recreation Department plans to burn several areas of native prairie grass through May 15.
The city has 15 sites throughout the city where burning will need to take place. The practice is used to help keep native grass areas healthy by stimulating new growth.
Some of the areas where burning will take place include Prairie Park; Riverfront Park; DeVictor Park; Naismith Valley Park between 23rd and 27th streets; and the South Wind Prairie near 27th Street and the South Lawrence Trafficway.
