City bowlers compete in league tourney

? The Lawrence High girls bowling team placed second in the Sunflower League Championship, while the defending-champion Free State boys placed third in the league meet.

The LHS boys placed third and the Free State girls placed eighth.

Robert Wagner paced the Free State boys with a 635 series, which was good for fifth place individually.

“I thought their performance was great,” FSHS coach Anita Carlson said of the boys team. “They kept in the game mentally and physically and bowled together as a team, and to me, that was the great thing.”

Christina Picicci led the way for the FSHS girls with a 499, good for 12th place individually.

Chad Boyd led the Lawrence High boys with a 646 series. Boyd finished third individually. Alexah Gudenkauf and Danielle Husted led the LHS girls, both placing the top 10. Louisa Hussein and Stephanie Reed also placed for the Lions. Darinka Delatorre and Delaney Dieker also competed for LHS.
