Free State girls tripped, 45-36

The Free State High girls basketball had no problem diciphering its gameplan Tuesday night. It just had trouble executing it.

When the Firebirds got the ball inside to junior Ashli Hill she was unstoppable. The Indians had no answer for Hill’s size and quickness in the post and she finished 8-of-14 from the floor for 17 points. The trouble was, for most of the second half, Free State simply could not get Hill the ball.

“We just didn’t have any offensive continuity tonight,” FSHS coach Bryan Duncan said after a 45-36 loss. “And that made it really difficult to make adjustments.”

North’s Brianna Kulas scored 14 of her game-high 20 points in the second half.

Ashleigh Allam added eight points and 10 rebounds for the Firebirds (9-8), who will travel to SM West on Thursday.
