Events leading up to the 22nd annual Lawrence St. Patrick’s Day parade are starting this weekend.

This year, money raised in conjunction with the parade and other events will benefit Boys and Girls Club of New York Elementary School, Lawrence Parents as Teachers, GaDuGi Safe Center and the LHS-Positive Support Team.

The annual parade will be on St. Patrick’s Day, March 17. The parade committee is accepting participation applications through March 3.

These other events are planned:

• Trivia Tournament, 7 p.m. Sunday, Zig and Mac’s, 1540 Wakarusa.

• Charity Benefit Saturday, which starts at 5:30 p.m. Feb. 28 at Corpus Christi Church, 6001 Bob Billings Parkway. Among auction items: concert tickets, a Ninetendo Wii gaming system and a basketball autographed by the KU basketball team.

• T-Shirt Pub Crawls on Feb. 20 and March 6.

• A 5K Shamrock Shuffle Fun Run/Walk on March 7, followed that day by a dart tournament and chili contest at Red Lyon Tavern.

• The Luck-of-the-Irish Motorcycle Rally, noon March 14, starting at Slow Ride Roadhouse.
