To the editor:

Probably most Americans would agree that the country’s in a terrible mess. There’s room for disagreement how best to start America back toward health and strength, but anyone who loves the country would want that result. Most fair-minded people (i.e., those without axes to grind) would also agree that the Obama administration seems to be trying to work toward that purpose and would certainly hope that his plan succeeds.

But there are a few who want the president’s efforts to fail. Never mind that failure would mean the country’s situation worsens; it would be worth our increased suffering if Rush and the Wingnut Squad were proved right (as they always are, of course) … don’t you think?
