Warner praise
To the editor:
I am disappointed that the Journal-World staff has found it appropriate to comment on a controversy at Haskell Indian Nations University that, it seems, they know little about. Regardless, the J-W claims “Evidence is mounting…” even though that evidence consists entirely of gossip and speculation.
I have friends at Haskell and, other than in this newspaper, I have heard nothing but kind words about Warner and her policies. It seems to me that Warner has been very supportive of student groups and of efforts to fund new projects on campus, but I have not read about these in the newspaper.
The fact that the Haskell Endowment Association disbanded because of an unanswered letter (and a couple of e-mails that could have been sent to a spam box) speaks far more about the Endowment than it does about Warner. Controversy is louder than appreciation, but the Journal-World seems incapable of finding any good in Warner. I think they should look a little harder.
