The 2009 Douglas County Spelling Bee is set for Saturday morning at Southwest Junior High School, 2511 Inverness Drive.
Students from 27 public and private schools in Baldwin City, Eudora and Lawrence will compete in the bee, sponsored by the Lawrence Journal-World.
The winner of the bee will move on to the regional competition — if their school has registered with the Scripps National Spelling Bee organization.
Student registration will begin at 9:20 a.m., and the competition will begin around 10 a.m.
Members of the public are welcome to observe the bee.
