Panera Bread donates $11,000 to nursery

Panera Bread’s “Share the Warmth” promotion raised $11,024.92 for Children’s Mercy Hospital’s Neo-Natal Intensive Care Nursery in Kansas City, Mo. Guests were offered free samples of new coffee, parfaits and grilled breakfast sandwiches Jan. 28.

Each bakery-café also offered guests an opportunity to donate to the nursery, and then matched the amount up to $250. The franchise of 21 bakery-cafés include Lawrence, the Kansas City area, Wichita, Topeka, Manhattan, and St. Joseph, Mo.

The nursery received 100 percent of the donations. It is staffed by 19 neo-natologists who also provide consulting services and care for many of the other neo-natal nurseries in the area.
