Immediate needs

• Douglas County Visiting Nurses, Rehabilitation and Hospice is looking for a “go-to” person for Hospice House to help mow the lawn, clean gutters, rake leaves and plant in the spring on a fairly regular basis. Someone who could give haircuts for in-house patients is also needed. If interested, call Sara at 331-4812.

• One of a Kind Progressive Early Education is looking for a greeter on Tuesday and Thursday mornings from 7:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. Responsibilities will include welcoming parents and children as they arrive, answering the phone and helping with small projects in the office. If interested, contact Kathryn Harris at 830-9040 or at Kathryn.dugger@gmail.com.

• Meals On Wheels currently has openings for six to eight regular volunteer drivers. Drivers deliver one day a week, to no more than six Lawrence residents, and the whole process takes an hour or less. MOW also needs about 20 substitute drivers to cover regular drivers when they need a day off. Some substitutes drive daily, once a week or once a month. Volunteers must have a valid driver’s license, proof of insurance and be 18 or accompanied by an adult — our volunteers range in age from 3 to 91! To learn more about becoming a MOW volunteer, call 830-8844.
