To the editor:
A public thank you to the gentleman who helped me clean up my drive after the city plowed my street.
Christmas night we spent 45 minutes shoveling enough to get back into my driveway. Boxing Day, we shoveled enough so we could get in and out with only a little trouble. That night, the city plowed the snow on my street and I woke up to an 18-inch high, 10-foot wide pile of ice and snow at the end of my driveway. (Kinda expected that, but that’s beside the point.)
I’m out there shoveling in the afternoon, just enjoying the heck out of it, when a man drove down Winona Avenue in a pickup towing a trailer with a small front loader on it. He turned down Barker and a few minutes later came back around the corner driving the scoop loader. He cleared the end of my drive for me and a ways up into the driveway also. Then he simply smiled, waved and rode off.
Sir, I don’t know who you are, but you have my grateful thanks. I hope you had a Merry Christmas and I wish you the best during this coming year.
