Headline laughs

December 19, 2009

To the editor:

Again headlines in Tuesday’s Journal-World tickled me to pieces: “Custom birdhouses don’t come cheep.” Turning to page 3A: “Home tweet home.” Both about decorated birdhouses. And a headline I’ve saved (April 17, 2008) below Richard Gwin’s adorable picture of a mother fox and her young: “Here’s looking at you, kit” is funny, cute, priceless as well as his usual fine art.

Sports section headlines are often knockout hilarious. With many headlines today downers, those playing on words are tonics that deserve prizes. Laughter is the best medicine. Way to go!

I liked LTE titles, "Going Soft?" and "Cover for Bush".

My all time favorite headline (found on CNN in September 2008) Bush lands in Texas; Residents urged to leave

Yeah, those are real thigh slappers, by cracky. Almost as funny as reading "Family Circus."
