LHS, Free State in Quest finals

Teams from both Lawrence High and Free State High will advance to the finals of the Quest competition, which pits teams of students against each other to answer questions on topics such as art, literature, history, math and science.

The two teams are part of a group of 16 high schools that advanced to the finals after competing in the Quest Super Saturday competition at Washburn University on Dec. 5. Sixty-five high schools participated.

The top 16 teams will return to Topeka several times for taping sessions, which will air on KTWU, Sunflower Broadband Channel 11, from February to May, when the championship team will be named.

The Lawrence High team consists of sophomore Ann Reed-Weston, juniors Alex Henriquez, Garrett Gable, Patrick Magnuson and Jake Mather, and senior Carl Peterson. LHS’ coach is Ron Callaway.

The Free State team, all seniors, is Trevor Barnes, Megan Blackwood, Dylan Koch, Alex Potuzak and Laura Rogers. Their coach is Oather Strawderman.
