Kansas City, Mo. ? A weekend fire at the Folgers Coffee plant in downtown Kansas City caused about $50,000 in damage.

Battalion Chief Joe Vitale said that the fire appeared to have been smoldering for some time before it was discovered Saturday.

It took firefighters about 40 minutes to control the fire, which was contained to a relatively small area of the building at Seventh and Broadway.

The cause of the fire wasn’t immediately known.
