Santa Claus to visit city on Saturday

Santa Claus will make two appearances around Lawrence this Saturday.

Lawrence Parks and Recreation Department will be host to a Breakfast with Santa from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at the Community Building, 115 W. 11th St. The breakfast will feature pancakes prepared by Chris Cakes pancake flippers of Kansas City, along with arts and crafts, and face painting for children.

“It’s all the pancakes, sausage, juice, and coffee you can eat,” said Duane Peterson, special events supervisor for the LPRD.

Attendees are encouraged to preregister online at lprd.org, or at any LPRD facility. Entry is $7 for children 3 to 12 years old and $9 for ages 13 and older, with the proceeds going toward the LPRD’s operations fund.

Santa also will pose for photos Saturday morning with visitors to Douglas County Bank, at 31st and Iowa streets. The event — from 10 a.m. to noon — is free and open to the public, and will include treats for those attending. Attendees are encouraged to bring their own cameras.
