With snow still moving through the area and bitterly cold temperatures expected, area school districts started calling off classes more than 12 hours before they were even scheduled to begin.

USD 343 Perry-Lecompton – closed

USD 348 Baldwin City – closed

USD 434 Santa Fe Trail – closed

USD 453 Lansing – closed

USD 458 Basehor-Linwood – closed

USD 464 Tonganoxie – closed

USD 491 Eudora – closed

The following events and services have been cancelled, postponed or delayed…

State government offices in Topeka – closed

Douglas County Senior Services No senior meals or senior transportation.

Lawrence Parks and Recreation Department morning fitness classes – cancelled. This would include classes like Senior Strength Training, Zumba and Yoga, the city said. Aquatic classes will continue as scheduled.

LHS boys swim meet in Manhattan – cancelled. No reschedule date has been picked yet.
