The Douglas County chapter of the American Red Cross has canceled its annual volunteer recognition dinner that was set for Tuesday night at the Robert Dole Institute of Politics.
Jane Blocher, executive director of the chapter, said the event was canceled because of concerns about a winter storm that forecasters say is headed toward Lawrence.
The event will not be rescheduled, Blocher said.
