Sabatini Architects earns 3 awards
Sabatini Architects Inc. of Lawrence earned three top awards during the American Institute of Architects Kansas chapter’s annual conference held Sept. 25 in Overland Park. The firm was recognized by its peers for the Award of Excellence for Renovation/Preservation for its renovation of the commons at Spooner Hall at Kansas University. The firm also received the Award of Excellence for Unbuilt Commissioned Work for its design concept for a new Lawrence Public Library, proposed in 2006 to expand the library’s services and strengthen its presence within the community. Designer Katie Nichols of Sabatini Architects Inc. received the organization’s first Excellence in the Work of Emerging Professionals for her work adapting an old warehouse to accommodate the Salina Art Center’s artist-in-residency program.
