Girl Scouts sell NE Kansas camp

? The Girl Scouts of Northeast Kansas and Northwest Missouri have sold an 80-acre camp near Topeka, the latest step in an ongoing attempt to deal with a backlog of property.

Gina Garvin, a spokeswoman for the organization, on Thursday confirmed the sale of Camp ToKaVaCa. The camp opened in the 1970s but was shuttered last September.

Earlier this week, the organization said it was closing its residence camping program at Camp Daisy Hindman, near Dover, because it had become too expensive to operate.

Other programs at the camp will continue, although the Girls Scouts are considering selling part of the property.
