Man arrested after threatening police officers

A 29-year-old Lawrence man was arrested Wednesday morning, after police said he threatened two officers.

Lawrence Police Sgt. Susan Hadl said that just before 11 p.m. Tuesday a Douglas County Sheriff’s Deputy was attempting to make a routine car stop on Massachusetts Street. But instead of stopping, Hadl said, the driver pulled the car into the driveway of his home in the 1900 block of New Hampshire, and parked.

Officers said the man got out of the vehicle, went into the house and refused to come out. Hadl said the man also had a warrant out for his arrest and eventually succumbed to officers.

He was arrested for the warrant and charges of aggravated assault against two officers and felony obstruction. Formal charges have not yet been filed against the suspect.
