GM Fairfax plant to add 375 jobs

? General Motors says it will add 375 jobs to its Fairfax plant to help assemble the 2010 Buick LaCrosse.

GM officials and employees at the Kansas City, Kan., plant said that the new LaCrosse is part of the company’s efforts to attract younger and more affluent buyers.

Fairfax is the only plant assembling the LaCrosse.

The additional employees are needed as production increases from 45 vehicles an hour to 60 vehicles an hour by October.

General Motors officials say the new workers are transferring from closed plants. The plant will add more than 500 jobs, but the net job increase will be about 375 because about 180 employees recently took buyouts.
