The Board of Directors at Independence Inc. have named Stacey Hunter Schwartz as the new executive director, effective Monday.
Schwartz has extensive experience and expertise in management, education and program development, specifically in service of people with disabilities. A former dean, counselor and instructor for students with disabilities at a California community college, she has experience in grant funding, program and service delivery, personnel management and consumer advocacy. Schwartz also has contributed to nonprofits in the Lawrence community.
She lives in Lawrence with her husband and two daughters.
