Construction principal earns accreditation

Kevin Markley, principal of Mar Lan Construction LLC of Lawrence, achieved LEED Accredited Professional status in late March by passing the exam.

LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) is a voluntary third-party rating system designed by the U.S. Green Building Council. Mar Lan Construction is a member of the USGBC, a nonprofit organization whose vision is a sustainably built environment within a generation through a comprehensive family of certification systems, educational offerings, conferences, and a network of chapters.

Markley has served as project manager on a wide variety of major projects for the company, including the new Western Extralite building in Lawrence, the first privately developed project to be built in compliance with LEED for New Construction 2.2 guidelines.
