Lawrence residents can now apply for funding for weatherization home improvements, such as door weather-stripping, storm windows and attic insulation. The program, funded by a Community Development Block Grant, is designed to assist low-income residents in lowering their heating bills.

Residents can apply for the funds at the Planning and Development Services Offices, 1 Riverfront Plaza, until Aug. 31.

To qualify, homeowners must be first-time participants in the program, live in owner-occupied homes with no more than two dwelling units, and earn less than 80 percent of the annual median family income.
