Salvation Army going on shoe kick

The Salvation Army is once again helping needy children with a Back to School Shoe Drive. The goal is to provide shoes for 75 children. Shoes will be distributed next week, at noon on Aug. 11. Financial donations are needed, and can be mailed or dropped off at The Salvation Army Corps & Community Center, 946 N.H. For more information, contact Susan Dalberg at 843-4188, ext. 105.

Immediate needs

• MOPS (Mothers Of Preschoolers) is looking for volunteers for the coming school year, to work in the MOPPETS rooms (the children’s rooms) during meetings. Meetings are from 8:45 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. the first and third Tuesdays of each month during the school year. Volunteers could commit to a semester or for the year, or could be a substitute as needed. • Small World is looking for volunteers for the following positions: assistant teacher, assessment assistant, children’s class leader, nursery caregiver, nursery chair, substitute lead teacher and tutor. This organization helps international women adjust to life in the United States by providing English classes, craft workshops and preschool care. • Head for the Cure is organizing a 5K run/walk on Sept. 13 to benefit the Chris Anthony Brain Tumor Research Fund. Volunteer duties include directing runners on the correct route, handing out water/food, helping with table setup and takedown, checking participants in, and helping with registration.
