To the editor:

This is in regard to the letter that Jean-Luc Godasse wrote on April 21 objecting to the Lawrence Journal-World’s continued and frequent publication of Carl Burkhead’s letters.

There are many readers of the Lawrence Journal-World, including myself, who appreciate and agree with the letters Carl Burkhead writes for the Public Forum. His letters are valid and challenge us to stand by old-fashioned morals and godly principles that our country was founded on. We would hope that he would be given the freedom to share his views in a public forum just as Godasse was given the freedom to share his views.

Don't you dare print one article or letter or editorial (or obituary, marriage, anniversery or birth announcement for that matter) that I don't personally agree with!!

"old fashioned" is right. "godly principles that our country was founded on." hmmm, our country was founded by people who believed in religous FREEdom, and not soeone who believed their way was the only way.

oh my goodness...valid maybe not.

But entitled to his opinion, absolutely...given a "forum" in the newspaper, I'm fine with that. As for those wonderful old fashioned morals and godly principals you speak of...well, they may just ruin us.

For a country of people that pine for the past, if we don't begin to contemplate our future, in everything we do, we will have no future.
