Overland Park ? Cody Kukuk delivered a two-out, two-run double in the second inning, and Free State defeated Shawnee Mission West, 5-3, on Tuesday in high school baseball.

Hayden Emerson picked up the win for the Firebirds (9-1), allowing three hits in four innings. Rob Wagner pitched a scoreless fifth, and Ryan Scott pitched the final two innings for his second save.

“It was our first road game of the year, against a formidable opponent,” Free State coach Mike Hill said. “I was particularly pleased with our pitchers.”
