Scott Zaremba, Lawrence, president of Zarco 66 Earth Friendly Fuels, spoke at the Sustainable Communities Conference March 9-11 in Dallas.

The three-day event was presented by the Environmental Protection Agency’s Sustainable Skylines Initiative in partnership with the city of Dallas, North Central Texas Council of Governments and private sector organizations. Zaremba spoke with community members about resources for developing sustainability, innovative materials management and designing sustainable livability strategies.

“While we can all do small things here and there to help protect our environment, sustainability requires a comprehensive approach that addresses issues specific to each industry and group,” Zaremba says. “In my industry, reducing dependence on foreign oil is part of sustainability in its truest sense.”

Zarco 66 Earth Friendly Fuels, a retail fueling and convenience store business, has eight locations in Lawrence.
