Attorney general honors local residents

A Lawrence resident has received the Criminal Justice Award from the Kansas attorney general’s office for his work with crime victims.

Attorney General Steve Six presented the awards Thursday at the 12th annual Crime Victims Rights Conference in Wichita. Christopher Behre, an attorney for Kansas Legal Services, was recognized for his commitment to increasing victim safety and offender accountability.

“Chris consistently goes above and beyond when representing victims of domestic violence in protection order cases as well as various domestic cases,” Six said in a news release. “Victim advocates consistently hear from victims what a wonderful job Chris has done in meeting their legal needs.”

Behre serves on the Douglas County Court Watch Steering Committee and the Douglas County Domestic Violence Justice Response Team.
