Committee to audit sales tax spending

City commissioners at their Tuesday evening meeting appointed a new committee to ensure that new sales tax money is being spent only on items that voters approved last November.

The commission appointed its Sales Tax Audit Committee, which will have the broad charge of auditing whether sales tax money is being spent on public transit and infrastructure issues as approved by voters.

The committee includes: Jon King to a three-year term, Ted Boyle to a three-year term, Keith Yehle to a two-year term, Charlie Sedlock to a two-year term, and Kathy Branson to a one-year term.

A date for the group’s first meeting has not yet been announced.
