Local resident named to KansasWorks board

Gov. Kathleen Sebelius announces Debra Zehr, Lawrence, has been appointed to the KansasWorks State Board.

Zehr currently serves as president of the Kansas Association of Homes and Services for the Aging. She previously held numerous positions in Hesston at Schowalter Villa, a not-for-profit, continuing care retirement community. Zehr earned a bachelor’s degree from Governors State University in Illinois and a master’s degree from Wichita State University.

The KansasWorks State Board makes recommendations to the governor and state agencies to drive economic development in the state by helping to produce lifelong learners; a highly skilled and productive work force; and highly skilled and high wage jobs.
