Author to speak at KU

Author Luis Alberto Urrea is scheduled to visit Kansas University for a lecture on April 15.

He is the author of a nonfiction book, “The Devil’s Highway,” which chronicles 14 Mexicans who died in the Arizona desert after crossing the U.S.-Mexican border.

Urrea is a professor of creative writing at the University of Illinois-Chicago and a member of the Latino Literature Hall of Fame. He has written 11 books.

He will deliver the 2009 American and British Lecture for KU’s English department. The lecture is scheduled for 7 p.m. April 15 at Alderson Auditorium in the Kansas Union.

The event is free and open to the public.
