T is good business

To the editor:

Almost everyone thinks it would be a good thing if Lawrence could attract some substantial new businesses. Any business executive thinking about finding a site for a business that will employ a substantial number of persons will want to put it in a place with an effective system of public transportation, especially if the city is as big and spread out as Lawrence.

On the other hand, such an executive is sure to think negatively of a city as big as Lawrence that once had an effective and growing system of public transportation and scrapped it just at the time when the need for alternatives to private automobile transportation had become quite clear.

If we are to attract substantial new businesses, we need to preserve and expand our public transportation. Anyone seriously interested in getting new business will vote “yes” on issues 2 and 3.
