Senior support

To the editor:

On behalf of everyone at Douglas County Senior Services, Inc. we want to express our gratitude to everyone who assisted us in having a successful event. The second annual Tea at Ten & Fashion Show was attended by nearly 300 people who came together to support our work and to celebrate our community.

Led by a dedicated volunteer committee, the tea was made possible by contributions from sponsors and we thank the many volunteers, who donated their precious time and talents.

We are especially grateful to those who attended the event and invested with us. We are keenly aware that many worthwhile organizations are in need of help. We are pleased and humbled that those who sponsored the event and those who bought tickets chose to do so with Douglas County Senior Services. These funds will be used to support our programs that include transportation, meals and community care. Additionally, this year some of the funds will be part of a grant that matches $4 for every $1 we raise.

Most importantly, it allows us to continue to reach more lives. Demands for our services are increasing with the aging of our population. It will take all of us, working together as a community, to respond.
