To the editor:

Many in our community are making personal efforts and sacrifices in the name of bettering our environment. For instance, almost 100 people, including myself, have already signed up to participate in a two-week “eat local challenge” in which they will try to consume four out of every five meals from locally produced or grown foods. It’s inspiring to be surrounded by individuals who are so willing to go the extra mile.

Hopefully this election year congressmen and other officials will be elected who take the current state of the environment and the threats of global warming as headline issues. The combination of both individuals taking responsibility as well as our government doing its part is the only way we can successfully rescue our drowning biosphere.
