Ballard Community Services is looking for volunteers to organize a food drive for the Penn House, and asks for food donations to be brought to 1035 Pa.

¢ The Douglas County Dental Clinic is hosting Free Dental Day from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday. Volunteers are needed to offer assistance in filling out paperwork, organizing, line control and providing information to patients. There will be a volunteer meeting at 5 p.m. Tuesday at the clinic. ¢ The River City Reading Festival needs volunteers to help set up, distribute programs, paint faces and clean up from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sept. 27 at the Lawrence Public Library, 707 Vt. Volunteers are asked to fill out a form available at rivercityreadingfestival.org

¢ The Lawrence Community Theatre is looking for volunteer ushers, bartenders, bakers, box office and house managers for the upcoming performance of “All Shook Up.” The show runs from Friday through Oct. 5. Contact lctks@sbcglobal.net or call 843-7469 to sign up.

¢ Body Boutique is hosting its third annual WOW 5K and 1-mile run on Oct. 11 to benefit the Women’s Transitional Care Services Inc.

The race, which is open to men and women, begins at 8 a.m. Volunteers are needed to direct runners. They will be asked to attend a meeting on Oct. 4, to go over race instructions and should arrive at 6:30 a.m. on race day.
