Wind potential

To the editor:

In the article “Wind also offshore energy source,” it states that people are starting to notice with the gas prices steadily increasing to $4 that we have an issue. What more is going to have to happen in order for more people to become aware? Our climate here in Lawrence has already started to change.

Utilizing only 1 percent of wind energy is confusing to me when we have SO much potential to really gain more from this cleaner source of energy. Global warming is one of the biggest issues that we face today and an even bigger issue if we don’t try to solve it now. I believe it is our job to preserve our resources for not only ourselves but our children. This is possible with wind energy. It’s a great start to curbing global warming issues.

What we need right now is to have our representatives in Congress be a voice on global warming.
