Douglas County flood warning extended to 1:30 p.m.

The National Weather Service in Topeka issued a flood warning Saturday for Douglas, Anderson, Coffey, Franklin, southern Lyon, and Osage Counties.

The warning extends until 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. Forecasters predicted that a series of storms creeping across eastern Kansas could drop an inch or more of rainfall in areas.

Drivers are advised to take caution when traveling on the Kansas Turnpike (between mile markers 156 and 206) and I-35 (between mile markers 144 and 199). The National Weather Service also urges motorists to exercise caution when driving on highways, underpasses and country roads. Showers should continue to move through Lawrence for much of the morning.
