Wrong spin
To the editor:
I have been listening to the latest Republican spin in this election and all I can say is “Wow!”
Somewhere along the way, they have become the advocate for women’s rights. It is so amazing to me that the very party that has traditionally voted against the rights of women now poses as their saving grace. Vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin has apparently received a lashing from the press. Unfortunately I have seen no such evidence to back up this claim. All I have heard is the press trying to find out who she is.
The fact is none of us, including McCain, really know anything about her. In their attempts to find out who this woman is, somehow it has been misconstrued by the Republican spin machine that the press is out to get her because she is a woman. The hypocrisy of this whole thing is overwhelming. The Republicans have turned the issue away from her lack of experience as well as McCain’s random unexpected pick for VP and made this a question of women’s rights.
It’s unbelievable to me that the Republicans have made a complete about-face and are now on the side of feminists everywhere. It’s comparable to the owner of a meat packing plaint joining PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals).
