Injury accident

¢ A female was transported with minor injuries to Lawrence Memorial Hospital shortly before 10 p.m. Saturday after being struck by a car near the intersection of Ninth and Arkansas streets, according to Lawrence-Douglas County Fire & Medical. Lawrence Police Sgt. Mark Warren said the pedestrian ran out in front of the vehicle when the accident occurred.

Emergency calls

¢ A structure fire in a triplex unit at 2832 Iowa on Friday was determined to be accidental, due to a clothes dryer incorrectly vented into a wall, according to a release from Lawrence-Douglas County Fire & Medical. A lint buildup was ignited from an overheated dryer. The damage was estimated at $80,000. The incident occurred about 4:20 p.m. Friday in Apartment C3 of the complex.
