Soccer has specific rules regarding lightning. I was at a game in Bonner Springs last night. Although there was rain during the varsity match it went on because there weren't any lightning strikes within 8 miles.Spring Hill, which is south of Olathe, probably had much more rain and plays on a OK grassy surface that would collect water, might have had other reasons for the delay.Playing in the rain isn't the problem. It is the experience of having players struck by lightning about 10 years ago in a game between SM South and BV North. The most seriously injured has reportedly never made a significant recovery.

They are staying home to watch the Republican convention. Do not let anyone fool you.

Soccer cancelled because of rain? Really? Have they never watched a soccer game in the rain? Heck I grew up in So.California where it barely rained, so when it did people would pretty much flip their car off the side of the road. We still played soccer in the rain.
