To the editor:

It is interesting that some students feel a line from a B-grade Adam Sandler movie, 1998’s “The Waterboy,” is KU tradition. I thought of KU tradition as Vespers, waving wheat, walking down the hill at graduation and other true traditions.

Isn’t it time the university calls the chant what it is? Unsportsmanlike conduct, with a 15-yard penalty. Maybe it’s time for a lesson in repercussions for our actions. Isn’t that what university life is, to learn? I think many area families are tired of forming committees, polls, video reports and pleading for students to stop.

In other words, enough! We have had enough! Now we are pleading with the university to request the umpires call the offense what it is, unsportsmanlike conduct. Who knows, we may receive good press for being a “class act” and other schools will follow our lead.
