The KU Credit Union will conduct a Shred Fest event from 9 a.m. to noon Nov. 1 at its south branch, 2221 W. 31st St., Lawrence.
Everyone is invited to bring in their old documents and computer discs that contain sensitive information and have them securely shredded.
"The single most effective weapon against fraud and identity theft is an informed, educated citizen," said Ginger Wehner, vice president for KU Credit Union. "Shred Fest is an example of one of the different ways we can help our community protect themselves against this increasing danger."
All shredding will be conducted by a professional shredding company, and participants should bring sensitive documents only.
