Members of two Kansas University groups - Engineers Without Borders and Concerned, Active and Aware Students - on Friday will collect canned goods and non-perishable food items in Lawrence to benefit local food pantries.

The students will dress in costume and go door-to-door from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. as part of "Trick of Treat So Others Can Eat."

Food items will be donated to East Central Kansas Economic Opportunity Corporation, which distributes food to local pantries.

Food may also be dropped off at ECKAN, 2518 Ridge Court, beginning at 9 a.m. Friday.

For more information on how to help, e-mail ewbku@ku.edu or visit www.ewb-ku.org.

Are you kidding me KU_cynic? You don't have a can of soup you can give for some people in need? Geesh. If you start a sentence with "no offense"... you should just stop there, because we know full well that your intent is to offend someone. I can't believe someone would 'call out' groups for benevolence!

No offense to the intentions of these groups of college students, but our house will be stocked with treats for small children. Leave Halloween for the little kids.
