School seeks help maintaining courtyard

Kennedy School seeks volunteers to adopt its courtyard garden. Volunteers would weed, trim, water and maintain plants in the school’s garden.

The work would be done between the hours of 8 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and would typically involve two to three hours a month from spring through fall or at the volunteer’s availability. Some tools and equipment would be provided.

¢ The Lawrence Community Shelter is seeking donations of coffee, creamer, cereal and other general breakfast food. Contact Diane at 832-0543 to make a donation or drop it off at the shelter, 214 W. 10th St.

¢ Pioneer Ridge Retirement Community is looking for volunteers to help decorate its tree for Christmas. A volunteer to dress up as Santa is also needed. Pioneer Ridge will provide the suit. Contact asterrett@pioneer-ridge.com for more information.

¢ The Douglas County AIDS Project needs assistance with its annual membership mailing from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. today through Friday. Contact Jill at 843-0040 to volunteer or stop by the downstairs office, 2518 Ridge Court.

¢ Kids Voting seeks volunteers to offer students in grades kindergarten though 12 an authentic voting experience at the polls on Election Day, Nov. 4. Volunteers are needed to help at Kids Voting tables before and after school at polling sites throughout Douglas County, including rural voting locations. Shifts last approximately two hours and may be scheduled at a voting location convenient to the volunteer.
