Raintree Montessori to kick off fundraiser

Raintree Montessori School is starting a new fundraising tradition today.

From 1 p.m. to 5 p.m., school families and friends will be participating in several activities and a fun run and walk on the campus, 4601 Clinton Parkway.

The event will help raise money for student scholarships. It will also help fund staff at the school.

The event, Jammin’ at Jack’s Mile, begins at 1 p.m. At least 400 people are expected to attend. The day will include games and rides for children and several musical performances.

A 1-mile fun run and walk known as “Jack’s Mile” will begin at 3 p.m. The mile is named for Jack Stineman, a 4-year-old Raintree student who died in June 2001 in a traffic accident.

“Jack’s Mile” was formerly part of the Raintree Run. The former Raintree Run expanded and became the Lawrence Half-Marathon in 2007.

Tickets for the event are $35 for a family of three or more or $12 per person.
