No more taxes

To the editor:

I understand that there is an issue coming before the voters to increase taxes!

As Forrest Gump would say, “I jus’ have one thing to saah ’bout that.” Will the Lawrence voters and taxpayers be duped into going for something like this?

We need good fire protection. We need excellent police protection. We need transportation for the physically challenged and special needs group. But Lawrence does not have the ridership to support its public transportation system. We need to downsize and remain proportionate to the needs, not the wants.

I can’t imagine in our present challenging economic climate anyone favoring a tax increase!

Let’s all work within a reduced budget. We have reached the saturation point on taxes. Let’s go for budget cuts, increased jobs and elimination of unneeded programs. We will all be a lot happier.

Please, no more taxes! Reduce them.
