Kids Voting needs election volunteers

Kids Voting seeks volunteers to offer students in grades kindergarten though 12 an authentic voting experience at the polls this Election Day, Nov. 4.

Volunteers are needed to help at Kids Voting tables before and after school at polling sites throughout Douglas County, including rural voting locations. Shifts last approximately two hours and may be scheduled at a voting location convenient to the volunteer.

Immediate needs

¢ The Lawrence Community Shelter, 214 W. 10th St., seeks individuals and groups to prepare and serve dinners.

Volunteers are needed the second Tuesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday of the month. Contact Dianne at 832-8864 for more information.

¢ One of a Kind Progressive Early Education is looking for a greeter to work from 7:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Tuesday and Thursday mornings. Responsibilities include welcoming parents and children as they arrive, answering the phone and helping with small projects in the office.

¢ Meals on Wheels needs six to eight regular volunteer drivers. Drivers deliver one day a week to no more than 6 Lawrence residents. The process takes an hour or less.

Meals on Wheels also needs 20 substitute drivers to cover regular drivers when they need a day off.

Volunteers must have a valid driver’s license and proof of insurance, and be at least 18 years old or accompanied by an adult. Call 830-8844 for more information.
