Michael Yellow Bird, Kansas University professor of global indigenous nations studies, will discuss the lingering effects of Christopher Columbus' arrival in North America.
Yellow Bird will speak at 3:30 p.m. Sunday at Plymouth Congregational Church, 925 Vt., in a lecture sponsored by the Lawrence Coalition for Peace and Justice.
"There are tribal prophecies that come from my tribe, with respect to some very clear human characteristics that tend to get people in trouble," said Yellow Bird, a member of the Sahnish and Hidatsa tribes.
