To the editor:

I want to thank the city of Lawrence for the free game-day shuttle bus from downtown to the stadium. My wife and I, along with our 9-year-old grandson, attended the recent Sam Houston State game. We got to Lawrence a couple of hours early, parked in the New Hampshire Street parking garage and wandered up and down Mass. Street. We managed to buy a few Kansas University souvenirs and have a very enjoyable lunch at a sidewalk restaurant.

When the time came, we caught the bus on New Hampshire Street and got dropped off right in front of the stadium. After the game, we caught the bus with a very small wait and it dropped us off right by our car. All in all, a much more pleasant experience than spending $20 to park on someone’s front lawn and still have to walk a mile to the stadium.

If the idea is to get people like us to spend a few bucks with the local merchants then congratulations, it worked! Thanks for a great service.
