Olathe North downs Free State, 35-7
Olathe ? Olathe North defeated Free State, 35-7, in Sunflower League football on Thursday night at Olathe District Activities Center.
Free State scored with 1:54 left on a 20-yard pass from Camren Torneden to Connor Stremel. The Olathe North offense scored two first-half touchdowns and its defense held Free State out of the end zone to set a 14-0 halftime margin.
Free State threatened only once, reaching the North 7-yard line and setting up a first-and-goal. But a holding penalty on first down put the Firebirds back and two plays later, Torneden threw an interception, ending the threat.
Olathe North scored on its second possession, a 14-play, 63-yard drive, capped by a 10-yard touchdown run from James Franklin.
The Eagles’ second TD came on a seven-yard run from quarterback David Blazevic.
